A village green has been given legal protection against development.

North Somerset Council has agreed with an independent inspector that the field at the junction of Chestnut Drive and Streamcross in Claverham should not be built on.

Campaigner Teresa Moore said: “Village green status will preserve the field for the enjoyment of future generations and help maintain the rural character of Claverham, preserving a piece of land which is much used by the community.”
