Cars stolen in night-time raids

PUBLISHED: 13:00 13 December 2010

POLICE are appealing for help in finding two cars which were stolen in night-time burglaries from the Weston area.

A blue Audi A4 with the registration CX03 FAA and a black Mercedes C180 with the registration WU08 TKK were taken last month.

Police say although not a common offence, there have been several incidents recently in which burglars have broken into homes, taken car keys and then stolen the vehicle.

Detective Constable Dale Buckingham said: “These incidents are not common and people should not be unduly worried.

“However, I would remind people to look after their car keys and place as much value on them as the car they belong to.

“Never leave them near the front or back door or in plain sight and keep them locked in a cupboard or key safe if you can.

“If keys are obvious it can take only seconds for someone to break in and drive off with your car.”

Anyone with information should ring police on 0845 456 7000 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
