Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious assault in Weston-super-Mare, which saw the suspect kick the door of a car before breaking the jaw of its passenger when he got out.

The incident took place on April 6, and Avon and Somerset police have just released an appeal for witnesses alongside a CCTV image.

The incident happened close to the police station, in Walliscote Grove Road, at approximately 4pm.

A man approached the passenger side of a silver car, which had stopped close to the roundabout, and begun kicking the passenger door.

The male passenger got out and the suspect then punched him, causing him to fall unconscious to the floor.

The victim suffered a fractured jaw in three places and required hospital treatment.

The suspect – described as white, aged 19-20, with closely-shaved hair – ran down Station Road, towards Tesco.

He was wearing a distinctive black T-shirt on with the logo HYPE in large white lettering. The sleeves of the T-shirt were white. He was also wearing grey tracksuit bottoms and trainers.

Police have released CCTV of a man they would like to speak with in connection to the incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 and quote crime reference number 5217076292.
