A WESTON ceramics student has won praise from the City and Guild for her course portfolio.

Jackie Fowler, aged 42, was nominated for a medal of excellence award after she submitted a collection of her work.

The portfolio included wall tiles, tea pots, sculptures, plates and mugs.

Sara Parsons, Jackie's tutor, said: "Jackie is an outstanding student who always goes beyond what is required for the course.

"She also motivates the group and is inspiring.

"I don't nominate a student every year, I only nominate someone when I believe their work is commendable - and Jackie's is just that."

Jackie is currently studying level three creative techniques in 3D ceramics at the Weston College's university campus in Loxton Road.
