Not all children would want to spend their Saturday in school, but many youngsters in Hutton did just that to take part in a messy play session at the weekend.

Lavishly-decorated cakes proved popular at the session, run by St Mary’s Church.

This month’s event was called Messy Candlemas to celebrate the Christian holiday which commemorates the presentation of Jesus at the temple.

The fun-filled event saw children take part in arts and crafts activities at Hutton Primary School, in Church Lane.

The event was called Messy Candlemas and saw lots of fun craft, songs, story, active prayer and tea.

The next messy church session in Hutton will take place at the primary school on February 25, from 4-6pm. For more details call 01934 812788.
