Churchill housing plans denied

Development plans which caused anger among villagers have been torn up by North Somerset Council.
The authority has refused Zena Bishop planning permission to build six houses off Front Street, in Churchill.
Out of 80 comments registered on North Somerset’s planning portal, 79 were objections.
The applicant had applied for planning permission to build eight houses on the same site in 2016, but this was refused by both the council and the Planning Inspectorate on appeal.
In a letter informing the applicant of the refusal, council development director David Carter wrote: “The development would project into the countryside, be out of keeping with the rural character and quality of the area and will result in harm to the village. The site location and access mean the layout of the development would harm the area’s character.”
