A North Somerset woman who has been praised for helping people lose weight was rewarded by meeting a pop star last month.

Nicola Cox, who runs Congresbury’s Slimming World group, was thanked for her efforts to help people change their lives at the organisation’s awards.

And she was lucky enough to meet singer Peter Andre, who hosted the ceremony.

She said: “Cuddling up to Peter was a real treat. He was bowled over by the difference Slimming World makes to people’s lives and it reminded me what a privileged role I have as a consultant.

“I couldn’t be prouder of the Congresbury group. They have lost fantastic amounts of weight, improving their health and boosting confidence.”

Mysterious Girl singer Andre said: “I’ve met so many incredible people who had transformed themselves – inside and out – so there’s absolutely no doubt in my
mind Slimming World and people like Nicola are very special.”
