Night-time entertainment in Weston is set to receive a significant boost, after the town was chosen to be part of a Government programme which aims to improve evening economies across the country.

North Somerset Council has successfully applied to be part of the second phase of the Government’s Local Alcohol Action Area programme. The council will now spend the next two years working alongside the Home Office to make Weston’s night-time economy more diverse and exciting.

Cllr Felicity Baker, the council’s executive member for community safety, said: “With all the development taking place at Dolphin Square and elsewhere in the town centre, we have a great opportunity to re-shape the night-time economy and attract more people into town to enjoy a safe night out.”
