A Weston voyeur has admitted secretly spying for months on unsuspecting naked men and women getting a spray tan at a town centre salon for his own sexual gratification.

Marcin Idzik appeared at North Somerset Courthouse on Friday after he installed a hidden homemade camera at Gloden, in Oxford Street, unbeknown to the company’s management.

However during their investigation police have been unable to track down the three men and two women Idzik filmed.

The court was told the camera was fitted to the ceiling of a tanning booth on October 15 and it remained in place until it was discovered by the salon’s staff.

Idzik, aged 30, was caught out after he visited Gloden on December 14 last year.

Alex Ward, prosecuting, said the stunned employee discovered the small camera on the floor after Idzik left one of its booths.

Gloden’s chief executive, Paul Braithwaite, said: “The safety and privacy of our customers is of the utmost importance and we were shocked when we first learned of the incident.

“We have been working and co-operating with the police throughout the investigation and we are glad the person responsible has been caught.”

Idzik pleaded guilty to two counts of voyeurism and one count of producing a controlled class B drug, cannabis, which is believed to be for personal use. When police arrested Idzik they discovered three cannabis plants in his Meadow Street home.

Mr Ward told the court naked video footage of five people – three men and two woman – was captured on the camera but police have been unable to identify them.

Mr Ward said: “The police were called when the camera was discovered.

“Footage on the camera showed the defendant installing or attaching the camera to the ceiling of the booth.

“There were five victims revealed on the camera itself... all of whom were naked in that same booth over a number of months.

“Unfortunately the police have been unable to track down the victims due to the period of time the footage covers.”

Mr Braithwaite said: “Gloden is fully-monitored and we always have staff on the premises during business hours.

“We always check the cubicles and this is just a reminder of what could happen.”

Idzik will be sentenced at North Somerset Courthouse on March 28.
