Weston-super-Mare man banned from seeing ex-partner after leaving her ‘scared’ to leave home

PUBLISHED: 06:21 10 March 2017 | UPDATED: 09:04 10 March 2017

A Weston man has been banned from contacting his ex-partner after wrecking her garden.

Lee Goodwin, of Yeo Close, attacked Christine Hall’s plants, in what she said was the ‘last straw’ and left her scared to leave her home.

Kevin Blackmore, prosecuting, said Ms Hall and Goodwin were in a relationship for about a year before she ended it due to his behaviour. But, on January 27 Goodwin visited her home in Stradling Avenue on the Bournville estate.

Ms Hall, in a statement read at North Somerset Courthouse on February 23, said: “He was shouting saying ‘I’ve never loved anyone like I have loved you’.”

She refused to let him in and he attacked her pots and plants.

Ms Hall added: “When our relationship first started he said he went to the gym and avoided pubs but drink played a big part in the grief I had to deal with.

“I’m scared I will see him when I’m out so I stay indoors.”

Goodwin told the court he has never hurt Ms Hall and damaged her garden out of frustration as she would not return money owed to him.

The 47-year-old said: “I admit I shouldn’t have done it.”

Goodwin received a restraining order, meaning he cannot contact Ms Hall or visit Stradling Avenue.

He must pay £36 in compensation, a victim surcharge of £30, a £40 fine and £85 costs.
