'BIKE rodeos' will be starting at schools across Weston's south ward in January.

The events have been organised by police and are similar to the old cycling proficiency tests.

The lessons can be classroom-based or practical and children will learn about street safety, bike safety and how to make a cycle road-worthy.

The first session will be held at Ashcombe Primary School from 11am-2pm on January 16, where 60 children are expected to turn out.

More workshops will be held at the same times at Uphill Primary School on February 13, Oldmixon Primary School on March 13 and Bournville Primary School on May 8.
