A WESTON Hospicecare volunteer will be taking on the challenge of the London marathon in aid of the charity.
Daniel Purdy, aged 32, is Weston Hospicecare’s Silver Bond winner, and is one of 4 runners taking part.
Daniel, of Frampton Cotterell in Bristol, said: “Training is going really well and I have raised more than £1,800 by organising a quiz night, a raffle and a zumbathon.
“I have also been able to get the wonderful support of the local community and various suppliers, such as Channel Compliance and John Pritchard Limited, for additional business sponsorship.
“This could pay for twelve hours of care in the Hospice’s In-patient Unit. The London Marathon is something that I have always wanted to accomplish, and what better way to do it than for a great cause like Weston Hospicecare.’’
Martha Nikiforou, a junior fundraiser at Weston Hospicecare said: “I’d like to say a massive thank you to all those taking part on this year’s run and I want to wish you all the very best for next weekend.”
