Events were held in Weston-super-Mare for deaf awareness week.

The support available to deaf people, and the work organisations do, was highlighted last week.

The week’s events started with a launch in the Sovereign Shopping Centre, where North Somerset Council’s new chairman David Jolley spent time getting to know members of the deaf community.

The events included a ‘meet the services’ day at the Town Hall, where various organisations showcased their services and offered free hearing checks.
