A trapped deer has been saved by an East Huntspill animal charity.

Secret World Wildlife Rescue came to the rescue of the animal after it was spotted stuck in wire by a member of the public.

The buck was released from the wire and assessed for injuries before being released straight away.

Volunteer rescue driver Paul Kite said: “It is always a good feeling to rescue animals in need of help and it is an even better feeling to be able to release them straight away.

“As a response driver, I have rescued many animals over the years.

“It is always a thrill to see animals up close and being in the position to give them a second chance.”

The charity is looking to recruit new volunteer drivers to help it rescue around 5,000 animals each year.

It also advises members of the public on how to help animals which need help.
