The 70-year-old businessman and councillor died on his farm in a tractor accident on June 4.

His funeral will take place on June 30 at St Lawrence Church in Wick St Lawrence. It will begin at noon.

Members of the public are asked to make a donation to Farm Crisis Network or Great Western Air Ambulance, if they desire, as opposed to sending flowers.

MORE: Family speak of ‘terrible loss’ after Derek Mead’s death.

Mr Mead was a member of North Somerset Council and Weston Town Council and the latter held a minute’s silence at its meeting on Monday.

Town clerk Malcolm Nicholson said: “Cllr Mead had been an independent member of the town council since 2013.

“He was admired for his sense of humour, and for always speaking his mind.

“He is a great loss to the town council and will be sadly missed.

“Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.”
