Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service is looking to recruit more on-call firefighters.

The service hopes to appoint more part-time officers in Burnham-on-Sea and Cheddar.

For the part-time role you do not need specific qualifications but you must be at least 18 years old, be able to get from work or home to the local fire station within five minutes, be physically and mentally fit with good eyesight and hearing and be able to pass the basic tests.

As a part-time firefighter you will be called out between two to three times a week and this could be at any time during the day, night or weekend.

Applicants would be carrying out a range of jobs including attending fires, floods, accidents, chemical spills and community events.

The Cheddar station, in The Hayes, is also looking for full-time firefighters.

There will be an all-day drop-in recruitment session at the station on September 2.
