The foodbank in Burnham-on-Sea and Highbridge is running low on ‘vital’ supplies and is calling on people to donate.

Since the start of the summer holidays, the foodbank has seen a surge in demand and foodbank chairman Beverley Milner Simonds said the holidays often see an increase in local families unable to feed themselves.

She said: “A large percentage of our food goes to children, this doesn’t go down in the school holidays.

“Looking at previous years trends the holidays see an increase in local families unable to feed themselves.

“Please consider a donation of non-perishable food at one of our collection points to help a local family.

Donations can be taken to the Methodist Church, in College Street, St John’s Church, in Church Street, Highbridge or Burnham’s Tesco store, in Ben Travers Way.
