A CAMPAIGN to create more apprenticeships, which was launched by Weston College and supported by the Mercury, is storming ahead of schedule.

The college’s aim was to create 100 new apprenticeship places in just 100 working days with businesses across Weston and beyond for young people looking for an alternative to university.

On day 57 of the campaign, the total number of pledges had already rocketed to 79 – well ahead of the one-a-day target.

The team at the college’s Business Enterprise Centre has been working hard to meet its target before day 100, which is July 24.
