A NEW primary school in West Wick has received a grand opening thanks to the Bishop of Taunton.

St Anne’s Primary School is the first dual-site school to open in North Somerset, with its new building in West Wick joining its already established school in Hewish. Pupils moved into the school in January but it has now been formally opened.

Headteacher Lisa Dadds said: “It was fantastic, it was absolutely brilliant.

“We had an event in the morning where the children led worship and the Bishop of Taunton came and blessed the school and the church.

“We had teachers, governors, members from North Somerset and the church, lots of different people.

“We took all our children from both sites so they all spend the day at West Wick, so we had 211 children on site for the day. It was great.”
