Bournville Primary School held a sponsored read with Usborne and raised £756, thanks to generous donations from families and friends.

The children’s book publisher has added a further 60 per cent of the total raised onto the donation – which means the pupils have received £1,210 worth of new books.

Any schools interested in adding to their library stocks can hold sponsored reads with Usborne.

Sam Goodger, a bookseller with the publisher, is backing the Mercury’s Books For Schools campaign and offering to help schools organise sponsored reads for their pupils.

For every £100 raised, Usborne will donate an extra 10 per cent in free books, for £250 or more the publisher will donate an extra 30 per cent and if the school raises more than £600 Usborne will donate 60 per cent.
