A woman was threatened with a knife in Weston-super-Mare this morning (Friday) before her Audi A3 was stolen, prompting a police appeal.

The incident happened at around 8am when the woman, aged 45, was approached by a man in Montpelier.

She was parked up and he asked for directions, before pulling out a knife and demanding she handed over her purse, jewellery and her car.

It was a silver Audi A3, with the registration number FY05 OYZ.

Police are now asking for witnesses to come forward to help find the culprit.

The man is described as white, in his 50s, with blue eyes and he is of medium build and has light coloured hair.

He was wearing a grey woolly hat, grey or light coloured hooded top and was carrying a small bladed knife and a screwdriver.

If you saw the incident, or think you know who the offender is, or where the car is, call police on 101.
