EXPERIENCED counsellors and counselling students are being invited to Weston College tomorrow to hear more about a new degree course to expand their skills.
The college’s counselling department is offering a top up year that will promote practice and academic development.
The department is holding an information evening tomorrow from 6-8pm at Knightstone Campus, Weston, so prospective students can find out more about the course, which is validated by Bath Spa University.
Jake Flood, aged 49, from Axbridge, is a student on the diploma in therapeutic counselling and will be attending the event because he is keen to go on the honours top-up course.
He said: “There is a bit of personal pride that would like to see the bachelor’s degree against my name. Career-wise, it is an investment in myself because there is a lot of competition for counselling work in this area and getting the honours would give me a real edge in that sense.”
