Children at a North Somerset primary school have some new animals to care for after their school farm became home to a group of 10-week-old piglets.

The saddleback cross piglets joined Court de Wyck Primary School in Claverham at the end of last year. Children in years five and six are helping staff to care for the animals, while designated ‘farm families’ look after the piglets at weekends.

A spokesman for the Bishops Road school said: “Our aim is to make our pigs happy and well looked-after during their time on our farm. They will eventually give us meat and we therefore discourage the children from naming them.”
