The future of a Weston-super-Mare multi-academy trust is uncertain after bosses announced restructure plans.

The Inspirational Futures Trust (IFT) may cease to exist in its current form.

Herons’ Moor Academy, a trust member alongside North Somerset Enterprise Technical College, St Katherine’s School in Pill, Crockerne Primary School and Bristol Futures Academy, wrote to parents and staff to ‘seek views’ on how to proceed.

It said: “IFT is not going to continue in its present form. Our options are: return to a stand-alone academy, remain with IFT for now – this will only be two schools – or to join another trust.”

The trust, sponsored by Weston College, published its accounts to the Government’s Companies House and, in the trustees’ report, it said: “Since year end, the board has initiated plans to restructure its member organisations. The exact nature of the restructuring is as yet unclear.”

The Mercury asked the college and trust for comment but received no response.
