The new Weston College academy building, which will house the North Somerset Enterprise and Technology College (NSETC), in Weston-super-Mare’s Junction 21 Enterprise Area, has been completed today (Monday).
The £12million project, which has created a new three-storey campus, will be used from September.
The NSETC is a specialist science, technology, engineering and maths college for students aged 14-19 which provides a number of courses, including GCSEs, A-levels and BTECs.
The new building includes ‘super-labs’ and an outdoor terrace where students can conduct experiments.
There will also be a number of technology and enterprise work spaces, an all-weather sports pitch, a canteen, a library and a lecture theatre.
The completed building can now house up to 700 students.
Dr Paul Phillips, principal and chief executive of Weston College said: “Weston College Academy will offer a cutting-edge educational experience for many students across the Weston College Group from September, and it is fantastic to see this state-of-the-art facility has been completed to schedule.
“This campus is the first of its kind to be built within an Enterprise Zone and we are very much looking forward to seeing it officially open in September, ready to prepare some of the brightest young people in the South West for 21st century working.”
