STUDENTS are being introduced to a new language at school.
They are learning Mandarin Chinese.
Priory Community School in Queensway, Worle, is running the subject as part of a plan to prepare pupils for a world increasingly economically dominated by countries outside of Europe.
Both Chinese and Japanese are studied as part of a period six - providing extra lessons at the end of the school day to broaden a student’s education.
