North Somerset Council is taking measures to ensure a Worle gym and astroturf can still be used by the community when a school becomes an academy.

The @Worle gym, dance studio and pitch is based at Worle Community School in Redwing Drive.

The land is owned by the Worle and Westhaven Trust, and the facilities are run by the @Worle Trust.

But the school is in the process of becoming an academy as part of the Priory Learning Trust.

It has been agreed the council will take over the freehold of the land with the pitch and gym, which the @Worle Trust will run.

Council documents say: “There is a desire to secure the future of the community facilities and the services offered from the @Worle facility.”
