Five primary schools from Weston-super-Mare and the surrounding villages gathered to celebrate the year of the English garden.

The schoolchildren from Ashbrooke House, Castle Batch, Bournville, Milton Park and Christ Church primary schools gathered at Weston Rugby Club to make scarecrows and plant flowers in pots.

The youngsters worked together to make 15 floral displays and five scarecrows, which will be placed in various locations across the town.

The English Garden initiative is a VisitEngland project designed to showcase top UK gardens.
