‘Meaningful’ lesson for pupils

PUPILS at a village primary school got a taste of the manufacturing world when they were taught how to spin wool.
Youngsters at Churchill Primary School were given a lesson in how to spin yarn by parish residents Tony and Alison Hughes.
The lesson was made possible after children watched three Jacob sheep being sheared outside the front of the school a week earlier.
Headteacher Jenny Venning said: “Mr and Mrs Hughes took the fleece and washed it for us, before showing the children how to spin it.
“It is wonderful to be able to draw on our local community in order to make learning real and meaningful.”
