Windwhistle Primary School. Catherine Griffiths, niece of former teacher Dorothy Smart, who died last year, pictured with children who designed artwork and a mosaic, created in her memory from donation given to the school.

Catherine Griffiths visited youngsters at Windwhistle Primary School on Monday to talk about the mosaic which was crafted in tribute to her aunt, Dot Smart, a teacher at the school in the 1970s.

Mrs Smart’s family gave a generous donation to the school following her death last year which has been used to fund the mosaic.

Year six pupils helped to design the images and children from each class took part in the making of it.
