A former teacher from Kings of Wessex Academy in Cheddar has taken up the post of deputy head at Sidcot School.

Christian Hughes was assistant headteacher for the Cheddar school, but he has now joined the leadership team at the private school in Winscombe.

He said: “I not only believe in achieving outstanding academic success but also nurturing the skills that help pupils to develop a life-long love of learning.

“These are very much the Quaker values which drew me to Sidcot School and I am very excited about the prospect of working together with staff and students to achieve this shared ambition.”

Sidcot’s headteacher Iain Kilpatrick said: “We are delighted to welcome Christian – he brings a wealth of experience both of the local and national educational system and we look forward to him getting to know students and parents in the weeks to come.”
