BOOKWORMS showed their love of reading during a recent competition at a primary school.

Pupils from Windwhistle School, in Kingsley Road, read over 1,000 books during the Reading Tree Competition.

Winners of a raffle on the day received a book token and were allowed to invite ten friends to a lunchtime sport session.

Ten runner-up prizes were awarded to those who had read the most books.

All the winners and their parents are invited to a tea party on April 12 to celebrate their success.
