Hans Price Academy has officially opened its new 4G pitch.

A new 3G pitch has opened for business at a Weston-super-Mare secondary school this week.

Hans Price Academy, in Marchfields Way, played host to past and present staff and students at the pitch’s official opening.

Members of staff from the school took on a team of alumni students with almost 100 people cheering them on.

The event also aimed to held raise funds for the annual school ski trip.

The staff team enjoyed success over the past two years, winning two Cabot Learning Federation tournaments in a row.

There was an early scare from 2012 leaver Simon Yard who scored from a corner but a string of goals from the staff saw them win 7-2.

On the final whistle, ex-student and Somerset cricketer Pete Trego opened the new facility along with principal Tony Searle.

Mr Searle said: “It was a great event and brilliant to see current and ex-pupils alongside staff enjoying our wonderful new facility.”
