TALENTED college students have scooped prizes at the regional Skillbuild South West competition, beating more than 100 competitors.

Three of the six students from Weston College who entered the competition at Somerset College, Taunton, gained two firsts and a second prize.

First place for brickwork junior went to Justin Bartlett, aged 21, of Station Road, Flax Bourton.

First place for wall and floor tiling was awarded to Robert Perry, aged 17, of Worle High Street and Sam Fowler, aged 21 of Clovelly Road, Weston, took second place.

Skillbuild South West tested students in a range of skills including carpentry, plastering, tiling, carpentry and joinery.
