Sporty students from a North Somerset primary school showcased their skills in a competition which tested their abilities across a number of disciplines.

Youngsters from St Anne’s Primary School, which has campuses in West Wick and Hewish, took part in the Level Two School Games athletics competition at Weston’s Hutton Moor Leisure Centre.

The young athletes, from years five and six, were tested in sprints, relays and distance running, followed by a series of throwing challenges including javelin.

The event culminated with a series of jumping events, including long jump, triple jump and high jump.

School sports co-ordinator Lin Hodges said: “All of the children enjoyed the afternoon of athletics, and the whole team worked hard to secure a third-place finish in the event.

“Thank you to Dave Turner for his wonderful coaching to help the children to succeed.”
