A Weston school has become an advocate for equality and diversity after unveiling its new badges.

Hans Price Academy, in Marchfields Way, is embracing the LGBT+ community with its new badges, which are being worn on the blazers and shifts of almost 100 staff and students.

The badges were designed by the school’s LGBT+ group but recreated to promote equality and support diversity across the board.

Learning resources manager Rachel Allchurch said: “An overwhelming number of staff and students have already requested a badge.

“They have explained what equality means to them and why they feel diversity and acceptance is so important in society today.”

Year seven student Callum Smith said: “We have the right to live our lives like we want to.

“We do not have the right to judge people if their race is different or because of their sex.”
