Students at a Worle school were recognised for their academic and sporting achievements at an award ceremony.

The youngsters from Worle Community School visited the Grand Pier for their awards night, where they were joined by their parents, carers and teachers.

Among the winners was Huw Pearse, who received three grade 9s and six A*s in his GCSEs in August, who earned the Worle Star Award.

He also received trophies for his excellent work in both English and geography.

Year seven student Oliver Chilman collected the Mary Collard Award for Sport.

And Naomi Blowers was presented with the community award.

The students listened to a speech by Judge David Ticehurst, who encouraged them to believe in themselves and aim to achieve big things.

Principal Jacqui Scott said: “We are so proud of all our students. It was an amazing night and a great talk by Judge Ticehurst.”
