A Worle singer raised £215 by busking ahead of a performance at Wells Cathedral.

Naomi Blowers, aged 16, sang for two hours in Weston to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Worle Community School, which Naomi attends, chose Macmillan as its charity of the year.

Naomi performed as a soloist at Wells Cathedral yesterday (Wednesday) as part of Age Somerset’s carol service.

Principal Jacqui Scott said: “It takes something really brave and big hearted to sing in Weston town centre like this. We are very proud of Naomi and wish her all the best at Wells Cathedral.”

Naomi has released an album full of musical theatre songs this year.

She started private singing lessons when she was awarded £200 during her time at school and has an apprenticeship at Bristol Choral Society. She wants to use her music as a form of therapy in the future.
