THE Grand Pier was filled with the sweet sound of school choirs as part of a Christmas carol competition.

Hundreds of proud friends and family members watched children battle it out to win money for their music departments.

Choristers from Ashbrooke House were crowned the county’s best primary school and won £100.

Pier director Michelle Michael said: “There is a very high standard of musical ability in schools right across the county of Somerset and I decided holding a carol competition would be a great way to celebrate that and to bring people together.

“It is something I have wanted to do for a long time so it has been exciting to see it come together.”
