Pupils at Hans Price Academy in Marchfields Way catered for North Somerset Council’s Bringing Communities Together event.

The unusual recipes year 10 and 11 students cooked up included jerk chicken, plantain salad and spicy butternut soup.

The annual council event, which is staged to 
celebrate cultural diversity within North Somerset, took place at the Winter Gardens at the weekend.

School spokeswoman Esther Lawton said: “This was the perfect opportunity to showcase the talented young chefs we have at the academy.

“Students planned, cooked and costed menus for the event.

“It gave them the opportunity to gain catering experience in the real world which can be used as evidence of skills competency, which is what employers like to see.”
