FIRE crews were called to tackle a blaze in a flat in Burnham yesterday afternoon (Sunday).

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received a call at 4.25pm reporting smoke issuing from a flat.

One crew from Burnham and two crews from Bridgwater attended the scene in Oxford Street.

When the crews arrived, they discovered there had been a fire involving food in a cooker, but it was out by the time they got there.

The crews used a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear the property of smoke and made the surrounding area safe.
