MORE than 5,000 people turned up to watch a free fireworks display held on the Grand Pier on Sunday night.
The pier put on the explosive display, which lasted for more than half an hour, after receiving complaints that its Bonfire Night display was underwhelming.
Liz Lewis, Grand Pier spokesman, said: “It was really well received. Cars were beeping, people were clapping, it was a great atmosphere.”
“People really appreciated the fact that we were disappointed and put another one on for free.”
