THOUSANDS of pounds were raised during a village’s annual family fun weekend.

Uphill Village Society organised a duck race and a sandcastle-building and picnic event to raise money for Children’s Hospice South West.

The society also worked with Uphill Primary School’s Parents, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA) to host a school fete.

Uphill Great Rhyne was filled with 700 ducks on Sunday, raising £700 for the village society and children’s hospice.

And the school fete raised £4,000, which will be given to the PTFA and society.

Organiser Marie Keele said: “It was a brilliant weekend. Everyone kept saying how lovely it was, and how good the atmosphere was.

“The society and the PTFA worked as a great team together to put on a great event.”
