A WESTON company has been short-listed for a national gong.

A WESTON company has been short-listed for a national gong.

Sole Events, which is based in Selworthy Road, has been nominated for two awards in the Cycle Rail Awards 2010.

It is in recognition of the work the company, which also works out of Worle High Street, has been doing to teach young people to cycle in North Somerset and Bristol.

It has been working to reach a whole group of individuals who would not otherwise be able to try the sport because of lack of equipment, an inability to travel to organised sessions, or many other factors which affect young people.

The events company has also been working around railways to try and educate young people of the dangers of playing on or near tracks, and the effects of this behaviour on the network.

The awards are held by The Association of Train Operating Companies.
