A workshop will be held this month in support of a Somerset village’s drive to reduce its carbon footprint.

Green Wedmore will welcome Paul Allen from the Centre for Alternative Technology and leader of the national Zero Carbon Britain scheme to St Mary’s Church in Manor Lane on January 27.

He will give a talk before hosting activities to promote sustainable living.

Green Wedmore has already had plenty of success in reducing the village’s carbon footprint.

It has installed electric car charging points, holds regular freecycle events and is campaigning to raise around £13,000 to install solar panels on the roof of the village hall.

The group is also planning to map out a plan and set a deadline to achieve neutral carbon footprint status.

The workshop will begin at 6.30pm.
