THE opportunity to soak in some beautiful scenery while learning the area’s history is on offer as part of a series of guided walks.
North Somerset Council’s new Ranger Service will organise walks around the county on a range of topics.
The first will be ‘Architecture in Weston’ on April 22, tying in to the publication of the new edition of the guide to the buildings of North Somerset in the famous Buildings of England series.
Architectural highlights will be examined, including WH Smith’s lead-work façade, Burton’s Art Deco building with its elephant capitals and the New York Commercial Cable Company building.
Future walks will include musical life in Weston, the Iron Age hillfort of Worlebury and ‘Illustrious lives and Weston’.
Each walk starts at 2pm, costs £3 per person and lasts for around two-and-a-half hours. No dogs are allowed.
