Plants which were due to be thrown away have instead been re-used to brighten up Grove Park in Weston.

Friends of Grove Park is a group which aims to keep the park tidy and inviting for visitors.

One of its members noticed flowerbeds in central Weston were due to be re-planted and the old plants composted.

So the group volunteered to re-home the plants and they have been installed around the edges of the fragrance garden in the park.

The group’s chairman Johnny Boxshall said: “We hope this will prompt North Somerset and Weston Town councils to work with us by informing us of their plans ahead of time so these positive savings can be made by plan, rather than by chance.

“Friends of Grove Park is keen to work with both councils on massively improving recycling and refuse in and around the park, and we would like to take this opportunity to invite the councils to liaise with us about our ideas.”
