Yatton villagers will have two opportunities to offer views on draft plans which will help shape it for a generation.

A neighbourhood plan is being drawn up for the village and will identify what development is permitted in the coming years, as well as highlight infrastructure requirements, including roads and cycle paths.

Engagement events will be held to allow people to comment on the draft. The first will run from 8am-3pm at the village hall on June 26 and the second will be held at Horsecastle Chapel from 3-9pm.

The draft will need to be ratified by North Somerset Council, but if adopted will provide Yatton with extra protection from housing development.

A Yatton Parish Council spokesman said: “Please contribute to this important process that will help shape our community’s future.

“A referendum on the final plan is expected to be held next year.”
