A new road running through Weston’s Haywood Village development will not be complete until the spring.

The Runway links the A371 with Winterstoke Road and is part of the Persimmon Homes housing project.

Although access to The Runway from the A371 has been open for some time, work to the opposite end of the road, which joins the new Winterstoke Road roundabout outside Lidl, is incomplete.

The area is being made safe although a footpath is open for pedestrians.

A North Somerset Council spokesman said: “Persimmon has asked if it (the road) could not be opened until late-spring for health and safety reasons.

“The path is open for pedestrians and bikes.”

Work on the 900-home Haywood Village development began back in 2013.

It also included the Haywood Village Academy which opened in 2016, with classes from reception to year two currently open.
