Delicious sweet treats were on the menu at the weekend, as villagers gathered to raise money for their village hall.

A cream tea was held at Hewish and Puxton Village Hall on Saturday to generate much-needed cash, with the event raising hundreds of pounds in the past.

Villagers were out in force to enjoy browsing a selection of stalls before sitting down with friends to tuck into some sumptuous cakes and scones.

The parish was in danger of losing its hall after the landowner declined to extend the lease.

But a community campaign saw tens of thousands of pounds raised to buy it over the past 12 months, with the deal being completed in July.

And the cash raised from the cream tea will be added to a kitty which will be spent upgrading the hall’s facilities.
